Project Context
Howie’s home needed more than a simple roof replacement. The existing roofing materials, aging gutter system, drainage components, and surrounding exterior details all required attention to ensure the home remained protected from water intrusion and continued to perform reliably over time. Because the property also featured solar water heaters mounted on the roof, the project required thoughtful planning and precise coordination so the work could proceed safely and efficiently without compromising other systems.
The challenge was to manage several interconnected components at once while maintaining full protection of the home throughout the process. Roofing, drainage, flashing, ventilation, siding repair, and rooftop solar equipment all had to be addressed as part of one cohesive solution, especially since the aging gutter system and deteriorated siding pointed to growing water-management concerns.
The selected roofing system also reflected the need for durability, as Malarkey Vista AR shingles are designed for enhanced weather protection, algae resistance, and Class 4 impact resistance.
Howie chose Vantage Roofing Ltd. because this project demanded more than standard re-roofing experience. It required a contractor with the ability to manage complex details across multiple exterior systems while maintaining a high standard of workmanship from start to finish.
Vantage Roofing’s emphasis on premium residential roofing, detailed planning, and strong workmanship backing made it clear that the project would be handled as a complete upgrade rather than a patchwork repair.
The project began with full site inspection, safety preparation, property protection, and coordination for the temporary disconnection of the solar water heaters. After removing the existing asphalt roofing and EPDM rubber gutters, the team inspected the roof deck and rebuilt the system layer by layer using upgraded waterproofing, flashing, ventilation, and shingle components designed for long-term performance.
New fully bonded EPDM gutters, reinforced drains and corners, and new copper drains were installed alongside the roofing system, while deteriorated cedar siding near the gutter termination area was replaced to restore vulnerable exterior sections and ensure the home’s water-shedding systems worked together properly.
