Project Context
Brian’s Coquitlam cedar roof had reached the end of its lifecycle and required a more dependable, low-maintenance replacement. The objective was to modernize the home’s roofing system while preserving structural integrity and improving long-term protection.
The main challenge was converting a cedar-installed roof structure to support a modern asphalt system. Proper drainage and waterproofing upgrades were also essential to ensure the new roof would perform effectively in all conditions.
Brian selected Vantage Roofing Ltd. because of our experience with complex re-roofing projects and our ability to manage both the roofing and drainage scope together. Our thorough process and focus on long-term results made us the right fit.
We removed the existing cedar roof, installed new plywood decking and strapping where required, and built a complete new roofing assembly using synthetic underlayment, Malarkey Smart Start starter shingles, Vista AR shingles, and EZ-Ridge hip and ridge shingles. We also completed detailed flashing work, improved ventilation, lined the gutters with EPDM rubber, and installed new copper drains to strengthen overall water control.
The completed project gave Brian a durable, low-maintenance roofing system with improved drainage, stronger waterproofing, and dependable long-term performance. The result is a complete roofing solution built to protect the home for years to come.
