Project Context
Chris approached the project with a clear goal: invest once and invest well. Instead of choosing a standard roof replacement, he wanted a premium system with stronger waterproofing, upgraded ventilation, high-quality shingles, and dependable warranty coverage. That approach aligned well with Malarkey’s system-based roofing model, which emphasizes multiple integrated components working together for better protection
The challenge was not simply replacing old roofing materials. The real objective was to build a roofing system that would continue performing over the long term by addressing common problem areas such as flashing, roof penetrations, skylights, valleys, and airflow. To achieve that, every layer had to be installed with precision and backed by materials designed for resilience in demanding conditions.
Chris chose Vantage Roofing Ltd. because he wanted a Vancouver contractor that could deliver more than a basic replacement. He was looking for a company with the experience to install a complete premium roofing system, the attention to detail to get the finishing work right, and the workmanship standards to support the investment with strong warranty coverage. That trust was especially important on a project where long-term reliability mattered as much as immediate results.
The project began with a full site inspection, hazard identification, and proper safety setup to prepare the home and work area. From there, the existing asphalt roof was removed and disposed of, followed by a full roof deck inspection to confirm the structure was ready for the new system.
We then installed a high-performance Malarkey roofing package that included Arctic Seal® ice and water barrier, synthetic underlayment, Smart Start starter shingles, Vista® AR shingles, EZ-Ridge™ hip and ridge components, and new ridge venting. Malarkey describes Arctic Seal as a self-adhering waterproofing underlayment for vulnerable roof areas, while Vista AR shingles are marketed for all-weather performance and Class 4 impact resistance, making them a strong fit for a long-term protection-focused project.
To complete the system, special attention was given to the details that often determine long-term roof performance. Our team completed skylight re-flashing, installed new attic vents, B-vents, stem vents, premium lead plumbing flashings, diverters at all gable ends, reinforced penetrations with peel-and-stick underlayment, and added new 26-gauge drip edges. Throughout the project, the site was kept protected, organized, and clean from setup to final sweep.
Chris now has a complete roofing system designed for durability, weather protection, and long-term reliability.
