In this case study, we explore how Vantage Roofing Ltd restored Barry’s leaking rooftop deck with a durable new 3‑ply torch‑on membrane system.

Project Context

Barry reached out to Vantage Roofing Ltd after noticing water leaking from his North Vancouver rooftop deck into the top-floor bedroom below. The existing torch-on membrane had worn out, allowing water to penetrate the interior space. Barry understood that the problem would worsen if left unaddressed and decided to act quickly to prevent further damage to his home.

To resolve the issue, our team removed and disposed of the existing material—including the wood decking and six inches of surrounding stucco—before installing a new 3-ply torch-on membrane system. We also resurfaced the waterproofing details around the doorway with ALSAN RS PASTE (PMMA Sealant), added a 26‑gauge metal flashing for extra waterproof protection, and installed an all-new 3″ copper spun drain to improve water flow. Once completed, we reinstalled the deck, leaving it completely watertight.
