Project Context
Pasha was seeking a roofing solution that would provide exceptional longevity while enhancing the West Vancouver home’s overall appearance. The existing cedar roof had served well over the years but required ongoing maintenance and was no longer aligned with the desired modern aesthetic. To address this, Pasha chose to invest in a premium standing seam metal roof known for its durability, clean lines, and superior weather resistance.
This project presented an opportunity to fully upgrade the home’s roofing system, but it also required precise execution. Converting from cedar to metal meant more than just replacing materials—it required upgrading the entire roofing assembly. Proper deck preparation, high-performance underlayment, ventilation improvements, and custom flashing details were all critical to ensuring the new system would perform as intended over the long term.
Pasha selected Vantage Roofing Ltd. due to our expertise in specialty roofing systems and complex roof conversions. Standing seam metal roofing requires a high level of craftsmanship and precision, and our experience provided confidence that every detail would be handled correctly. Our ability to manage the full scope of the project—from structural preparation to finishing details—made the process seamless and efficient.
We began by safely removing and disposing of the existing cedar roofing materials. To create a strong and uniform base, we installed 1/2″ plywood across the entire roof deck. A PLATINUM HTSA high-temperature peel-and-stick underlayment was then applied to ensure optimal performance beneath the metal system.
Next, we installed 24-gauge, 1.5″ mechanically locked standing seam metal panels with a durable PVDF/Kynar finish. Custom 26-gauge flashings were installed at the eaves, gables, and ridge to ensure complete weather protection.
We also upgraded all ventilation components, including attic vents, plumbing flashings, B-vents with collars, and stem vents. To complete the project, we installed a new chimney cap and ensured the property was fully protected throughout the process with groundsheets, followed by a thorough cleanup.
The completed project significantly enhanced both the performance and appearance of the home. The new standing seam metal roof delivers superior durability, increased weather resistance, and a sleek, modern architectural finish.
