14123 31A Avenue, Surrey, BC V4P 2J4

In this case study we remove cedar, install a two-ply torch-on membrane for low-slope areas, and finish with premium cedar shakes for addition.

Project Context

Viva Outdoor Living asked us to handle roofing on a client’s new addition. The scope included removing a section of the existing cedar roof, installing a new two-ply torch-on membrane for the flat/low-slope areas, and finishing with premium cedar shakes to match the home.

Materials Used

Torch-On System: Soprema two-ply torch-on

Cedar Shakes: Western Red Cedar, 24″ × 5/8″ tapersawn, Premium Grade, Blue Label, Bureau Stock, 100% edge grain, 100% clear heartwood, CCA treated

The Challenge

The main challenge was the tight timeline. We needed to complete the roofing work before the seasonal weather change, reducing risk of moisture exposure and schedule delays for the builder and homeowner.

Why The Client Chose Us?

Viva Outdoor Living chose Vantage Roofing Ltd because:

Our quote was competitive

We were quick and clear in our communication

We could meet the timeline without sacrificing quality

How We Responded?

We organized the work in phases to keep the site dry and the schedule moving:

Membrane Installation: Installed the Soprema two-ply torch-on system for a watertight, long-life solution on the low-slope section.

Cedar Shake Roofing: Installed premium Western Red Cedar tapersawn shakes to match the home’s look while delivering strength and longevity.

Quality Control: Checked transitions, flashings, and penetrations to ensure clean lines, proper drainage, and long-term performance.

Site Coordination: Worked closely with Viva Outdoor Living to sequence around other trades and keep the addition on track.
