Project Context
Erin wanted a roofing solution that would do more than cover the problem temporarily. The goal was to remove the old materials, inspect the roof structure thoroughly, correct any issues found, and install a complete new system that would improve both durability and ventilation. This approach aligned well with modern roofing best practices, where balanced ventilation and complete system installation are emphasized for long-term performance.
The existing roof had multiple layers, which increased the complexity of the project and created the possibility of hidden problems underneath. Once exposed, the roof also required targeted repairs and updated venting details, including work around plumbing, chimney components, and attic airflow. Industry guidance commonly recommends a balanced intake-and-exhaust approach for effective ventilation.

The project included repairs to the plumbing flange, updated chimney and vent components, new lead flashings, peel-and-stick reinforcement at penetrations, new drip edges, and diverters at the gable ends. We then installed a complete Malarkey system featuring Arctic Seal ice and water barrier, synthetic underlayment, starter shingles, Vista AR field shingles, and RidgeFlex hip and ridge shingles, along with six new attic vents and rigid piping for bathroom ventilation.
